Thanks to the generosity of Robert and Nellie Gipson (the Tianaderrah Foundation), the American Research Center in Sofia (ARCS), Bulgaria invites applications for three-month fellowships to conduct research at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens (ASCSA) or the American Research Institute in Turkey (ARIT), Istanbul and Ankara Centers. Research projects in any field of the humanities are eligible. The application deadline for this fellowship competition had been extended until June 1, 2012.

The seminar, open to the public, is organized jointly by the American Research Center in Sofia, the Cold War Studies Program, the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies, and the Kokkalis Program on Central and Southeastern Europe. The American Research Center in Sofia (ARCS) announces a competition to select the most outstanding Bulgarian dissertation in the field of Ottoman History that has been defended in the last ten years (in 2002, or afterwards). The winning dissertation will be translated into English and distributed throughout Europe and North America.
