This project focuses on the study of evolution and transformation of settlement patterns in the southwestern territories of modern Bulgaria, involving the application of innovative methods like geographical information systems (GIS) and remote sensing technologies (RS). The study area between the Kresna and Rupel Gorges is compact and geographically pronounced, which favors the distinction of a single settlement system on its territory.
