Exhibition openings in Silistra and Varna

Two new exhibitions opened in Silistra (Sept. 16) and Varna (Sept. 17) thanks to the annual SPCME grant awarded by the American Research Center in Sofia. With the project "Revivification of the Ancient Durostorum in the Archaeological Museum – Silistra," the Regional Museum of History in Silistra improved the conditions of several exhibit rooms within the museum and installed new visual aids, including a 1:100 scale model of the Late Antique fortress at Durostorum and a full-size replica of an aristocratic Roman carriage. The "Museum for Kids and Grown-ups: the Varna Educational Museum" involved the refurbishing of a wing of the Museum at Varna in order to host a series of interactive displays intended for groups of schoolchildren.

The SPCME grant allows ARCS to sponsor several site preservation and museum enhancement projects each year. The next deadline is Dec. 1, 2013.
