Change in Bulgarian Physical Education and Sport after
September, 9th 1944.

Without doubt the borders have important and intransitive meaning between two era and Time. The border dates announce the end of aged and beginning of new historic period, they mark millions people' times that refract fortunes and biographies.
This report will examine the main characteristics of the border date – 9th of September 1944 in Bulgaria. It will look into periods "before" and "after" September 9th, 1944 and will address the question of which aspect predominates – continuity or change? Moreover, it will present the beginning of the process of Sovietization in Bulgarian sport and its role after September 9th.
The propaganda is one of the most interpreted important political areas of the communist regimes. Socialist athletes were to act as role models and embodied all the characteristics of the new Socialist personality. As Socialist heroes, they symbolized the ‘moral code of the builder of Communism’. This research will focus on the adaptation of sport heroes in communist Bulgaria by the state. One of the main goals of the report is to pose and discuss the following question: did these Bulgarian athletes fit the pattern of Communist heroes?
Finally, the report will provide concrete examples of some ‘dubious’ people for the communist power, who after September 9th, found their field of activity in the sports, which became a relatively conducive environment for career development of this type of people in the young totalitarian state.
