LIBRARY

One of the most important assets of ARCS is its Library. With a collection that now numbers over 16,000 volumes, the Library ranks as one of the most important in Bulgaria. The core subject areas are the archaeology and ancient history of the Balkan peninsula, with secondary, and quickly developing, specializations in the Medieval, Byzantine, Ottoman, and modern/contemporary periods. The collection includes an increasing number of materials that are unique or hard to find elsewhere in the country.

The Library is located on the first and second levels of the ARCS building at 75 Vasil Petleshkov St., Sofia. It is open to the academic community Monday through Friday, from 9:00am until 5:30pm. Free wireless internet is available, as is access to important electronic scholarly databases, such as JSTOR, CEEOL, and L’année philologique. The library is non-circulating.

ARCS aspires for its library to be as useful and welcoming as possible for visiting patrons. To inquire about any aspect of the ARCS Library or to suggest books for purchase, please do not hesitate to contact us at library@arcsofia.org.
